GQA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in

Learning Connect are pleased to be able to deliver the GQA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment as an online learning course.


The online version of the course follows the same format as a course that is delivered a classroom. The course is a live learning event, which is delivered by a trainer knowledgeable in the subject, who is able to answer any questions you have on the topic. As this is a live training event, you are also able to meet other people on the course and take part in relevant discussion relating to the topic.


This course is ideal for those people who are not able to travel to our centre in Southall yet still want to have the benefit of a live training event.

Who Is This Qualification For?

This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to prove they have the level and range of knowledge required to work safely in a Construction working environment. Achievers of this unit will fulfil the CSCS requirements for the General Construction site Labourer’s card.

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to show you the importance of making sure you can work safely on construction sites to protect yourself and other people who are working around you.

Course Objectives

By the end of this workshop you will know:

  1. How risk assessments help to maintain and improve the health and safety of construction sites
  2. How correct manual handling techniques reduces injuries caused
  3. Why working at height needs to be carried out safely
  4. The types of risks that are present in the construction industry and how to avoid them
  5. The importance of working safely around plant and equipment found on a construction site.

  1. Introduction to construction health and safety
  2. Safe manual handling in a construction environment
  3. Working safely at height in a construction workplace
  4. Risks to health in a construction environment
  5. Working around plant and equipment safely

Course Process

To achieve the qualification you need to:

  1. Attend the online training session
  2. Complete the course workbook during the session, this is completed remotely using our secure software.
  3. Your workbook will be marked and if it has met the required pass mark you will be awarded the qualification
  4. If you have not met the required mark, you will be contacted by your tutor to explain what happens next.

Applying For Your CSCS Card

To be able to apply for your CSCS Labourer’s card you need to:

  1. Achieve the Level 1 Health and Safety Qualification
  2. Pass the online Health and Safety Test

Both of these processes can be carried out on the same day using our secure online software.
