Courses overview

The NVQ Level 2 in Steel fixing Occupations is intended for construction workers who work in steel fixing.

Entry Requirement

The qualification will assess a learner’s competence in their current job role. Learners require to be in full employment as a Steel fixer and be the age of 16 or above

Courses length

6-8 weeks. Dependant on how quickly the learner can gather the relevant evidence

Assessment

During the NVQ process, the learner will be assessed on site on the evidence, they supply to the assessor. Delegates can supply evidence in a range of methods such as; witness testimonials, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussion, written questions. The learner must complete a set of mandatory units.

·         Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare

·         Moving, Handling and Storing Resources

·         Conforming to Productive Working Practices

 

Then the learner must earn the rest of their required credits from the choice of optional units.

 

·         Fixing Steel in Situ

·         Cutting and Bending Reinforcement Steel to Shape

·         Prefabricating Reinforcement Steel Sections

 

There is also an option to add an additional unit to your qualification, please note that these will not contribute to your minimum credit requirement. (Hand Signalling and Slinging the Movement of Suspended Loads)
